Oil company hasn't replaced leaking tanks near Fort Collins despite months of complaints (The Coloradoan)

Former PSR Colorado board member, Cory Carroll, is featured in this recent article by The Coloradoan.

The article details the impacts that fugitive emissions from leaky oil and gas equipment and actively-producing operations are having on residents living in close proximity to the Prospect Energy site near North Fort Collins, as well as the inadequate response and enforcement from State and local regulators.

From the article:
”Carroll, who’s involved in local environmental groups and Physicians for Social Responsibility, has reviewed extensive research on the health outcomes of proximity to oil and gas sites. Numerous peer-reviewed, scientific studies and governmental reports indicate that living near oil and gas facilities is associated with
higher risk of heart disease and asthmaelevated lifetime cancer risk and other adverse health impacts.

Less is known about the impacts of prolonged, lower-level exposure, but Carroll thinks physicians should give heavier consideration to how such exposure could be affecting patients' health.

Bortz (Carroll’s patient) “does everything he can to keep his body as healthy as possible, and I know that because I'm his doctor,” Carroll said. “He's experiencing things that he shouldn't experience, and the only explanation I have is the exposure he's getting with this location.”
