Help protect Aurora, Colorado from an experimental nuclear micro-reactor project at Buckley Space Force Base (SFB).

Use the form on this page to automatically send your personalized message to Colorado senators and local elected officials asking for their help to stop federal plans to install a mobile nuclear "micro-reactor" near homes and schools at Buckley SFB in Aurora and launch operations by 2028. Because:

• Installing and operating reactors can release radiation that would increase cancer risk for the people of Aurora.

• Buckley SFB has yet to fully account for prior releases of toxic chemicals.

• The Aurora community has had no opportunity to weigh in on this project.

• The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has undergone massive staffing cuts and is proposing to weaken radiation exposure standards.

• The selected contractor, a six-year old startup called Radiant Nuclear, has never operated a commercial nuclear reactor before, and has received criticism of their reactor development in Wyoming.

Unfortunately, Colorado's US Senators, John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet, and Aurora's US Congressperson, Jason Crow, appear to support the reactor plan. Aurora city council members, Mayor Coffman and state legislators from the area have taken no public position to date.   

Please speak out now to stop this irresponsible threat to community health and safety before it becomes a fact on the ground. After all, if these facilities were safe, why would the administration be seeking to reduce radiation exposure standards?  

Colorado's elected officials must actively oppose this hazardous project, especially as the NRC's capacity to protect the public is in jeopardy.
